Michael Knippschild, born in 1993 in Lippstadt, Germany, is a jazz drummer, vibraphonist and improviser. He grew up near Frankfurt and received his first drum lessons at the age of six from a fantastic teacher, who got him hooked on music. He later studied at the Drummers Institute in Düsseldorf and at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, where he also learnt to play the vibraphone. He is now studying music theory and exploring early music polyphony. He has already had the honour of playing with numerous musicians, including Reza Askari, Matthias Bergmann, Walli Böcker, Nico Brandenburg, Ryan Carniaux, Axel Fischbacher, Dennis Gäbel, Esther Kaiser, Christian Ramond, Thomas Rückert, Martin Sasse, Martin Speake, Yuhan Su, Reggie Washington.
